Being There For Those Who "Put It All On The Line"

The Puget Sound Detachment of the Marine Corps League is a Congressionally-Chartered 501(c)4 Registered Charity and operates as a Tax-Exempt Organization for Tax Deductable Contributions  under the War Veterans Exemption of IRC 170(c)3.

Our primary mission is supporting active and 'inactive' Marines and the Community in which we live.

Many things we can do by just being Marines, but Marine culture is team-based, and by partnering with the communities we serve, what we do comes back around.
And vice versa.
In tactical terms, this is called "force multiplication".
Feel free to call it synergy, karma, payback, or even paying forward.

With your contributions, we accomplish our mission on four fronts:

Marine Support Fund

This fund is locally administered by the detachment and goes 100% to provide for local emergency housing, medical, food, utility, and transportation assistance to current and former Marine and FMF (Fleet-Marine-Force)
Navy Corpsmen Veterans and their families.

You can support our local Marines with contributions directed to the
MCL Det 336 Marine Support Fund

Contributions for amounts less than $100 are welcome (and form the bulk of our support fund contributions).
Your cancelled check serves as your tax-deductable receipt.
Contributions in excess of $100 will receive a formal letter of appreciation as further evidence of your generous support.
We also maintain a record of Marine Support Fund contributions solely to validate an IRS-deduction query.

Toys For Tots Fund

This fund is also locally administered and goes 100% to purchase toys (and if necessary, storage and transportation of collected toys) in support of the Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots program coordinated by the
Fourth Landing Support Reserve Battalion for holiday toy distribution to needy children in King County.

You can support the Toys For Tots program in King County throughout the year with contributions
directed to MCL Det 336 Toys for Tots

Contributions for amounts less than $100 are welcome. Your cancelled check serves as your tax-deductable receipt.

We also maintain a record of TFT Fund contributions solely to validate an IRS-deduction query.

Honor Guard Fund

The Marine Corps League Puget Sound Detachment has maintained an active Honor Guard for over two decades, providing Memorial Services, Parades, Hospital Visits to Veterans at the VA Hospital  and other civic operations. Our Honor Guard has provided Funeral and Memorial Interments at Tahoma National Cemetary since it was chartered as the first National Veterans Cemetary in Washington State in Sept. of 1997.  Our Honor Guard is largely funded by the volunteers themselves (it's just their way), but they do welcome contributions in support of their efforts.

Contributions to this fund are administered by the Honor Guard Captain and can be used to support the Honor Guard in its uniforms, ceremonial weapons, and activity logistics. Any funds in excess of the Honor Guard needs are donated to various Veteran Charities (Marine Wounded Warrior Regiment, VA Hospital, etc.) at the discretion of the
Honor Guard  Captain.

You can support our Honor Guard  with honorariums and tax-deductable contributions
directed to MCL Det 336 Honor Guard Fund

Contributions for amounts less than $100 are welcome. Your cancelled check serves as your tax-deductable receipt.
Contributions in excess of $100 will receive a formal letter of appreciation as further evidence of your generous support.
We also maintain a record ofHonor Guard Fund contributions solely to validate an IRS-deduction query.

Marine Corps League General Fund

This fund is also locally administered and is used for a wide variety of Marine Corps League Detachment operations, such as our hosting the Marine Corps Birthday Dinner on Nov 11th of each year, our All Marines Pot Luck Picnic in July, support of our Meeting Facilities, Detachment appearances at Seahawks and Mariners games, Flag Ceremonies, Logistics for required Officer duties (convention and conference lodging in various locations around the state), website costs, etc., as well as "Care Packages" to deployed Marine units, external charities such as the Marine "Semper Fi Fund", and augmenting our Marine Support, Toys For Tots, and Honor Guard funds as needed, in addition to direct Marine, Veteran, and various other worthy charities serving our community.

Contributions to this fund are a great way to support all the Detachment's charitable tax-exempt operations.

You can support our Marine Corps League mission with tax-deductable contributions directed to MCL Det 336, and  wherever you encounter our Marine Corps League members at our Marine Rose fund-raising activities

-DISCLOSURE-
While none of our funds are administered by salaried personnel (we are all unpaid volunteers), contributions to the Honor Guard and General Funds could conceivably be used in part for expenses considered "administrative" by the IRS.  These expenditures are authorized exempt charitable expenses, but it could be misleading to claim 100% purely-charitable use in those funds, as a small portion of those funds might be used to cover operational expenses of the Honor Guard, or in the case of the General Fund, "administrative expenses" of the Detachment as described above  if such expenses exceed that covered solely by member dues. It's not often this is necessary,  but this disclosure serves notice that such expenses are authorized in those specific funds to further the Marine Corps League's Veteran and Community  Service operations.
Our MCL members donate their time, service, and most, if not all, of their own expenses as a sense of honor, duty, and privilege, in order to maximize the funds available to benefit our brother and sister Marines, FMF Corpsmen, their families, and the community in which we live.
Likewise, we carefully investigate the recipients of our funds to accomplish the greatest end-recipient value from these resources.

You can be confdent your tax-deductable contributions are cherished and dilligently distributed in support of accomplishing each fund's mission.
