M-14 Scout Sniper Rifle (M-25) - 7.62x51 mm

TOP 3 Targets  - 2008 Pistol

Conditions - any combat caliber (9mm to .45)
(none of dem pansy .22's this year)
Offhand - no mechanical rest of weapon or shooter.
Scoring - 10 shots, best edge (nick the 9 ring, scores  9)
Target - 5 ring is 6 inches diameter, Bull is 1 inch

1st and 2nd were tie score (91 out of possible 100, 10 shots)
Targets shown are rotated 90 degrees clockwise from original shooting position
due to the wide clip width on the mounts  (targets too narrow to mount vertically).
As you can tell, the best shooters have good trigger control (little deviation side to side),
these shooters need just a tad more work on sight picture for elevation.
-=-=-=-
If Johnathan centered his rear sight up (1 click to the right) he would have won.
If Steeley used his handloads instead of "store bought", he'd have won.
(and if Japan had US Marines you'd be reading this in Kanji,
but it is what it is..)

READ 'EM AND WEEP

(Note: Gene "settled down" and won the tie-breaker with an even more impressive score of 95 ~ 7 bulls, one 9, two 8's)

SCUTTLEBUTT

Gene and Johnathan are Iraq War vets and shoot often, and as you can see,
quite well. While they were practicing several of our Marines
seriously considered not even bothering to shoot! Yes, rather intimidating!
Commandant "Steeley" scored the targets, and consequently shot last.
He literally could not tell where the rounds were hitting from his sight position,
(Nam Vet, gettin' old does that to ya..), but everyone off to the sides could.
Steeley did see the "flyer" on his 5th shot and while reloading  said
"Well, at least I got one on the target.."
Gene and Johnathan started breathing again.

Honorable Mentions
Jr. Vice Commandant "Bones" - 76
Gary Gualdoni - 73
Sr. Vice Commandant "Turbo" - 65
(w/two "maggies drawers")

(Rick Hester - Navy, winner 2006 & 2007 - didn't do so well without the
target .22 semiauto, and refused to turn in his target for score.)
The Marines reclaim our Honor!

1st Place - $100,  2nd Place - $50,  3rd Place - $25
Practice up, see ya next year..
